Message from the College of Health Dean

Welcome to the ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« College of Health! Our College features three Schools focused on educating future public health leaders, healthcare practitioners, and mental health professionals across a wide array of specialties.

The School of Behavioral & Community Health offers graduate programs in Clinical Counseling, School Counseling, and Social Work in order to address the growing mental health needs of society. Here, educators prepare practitioners to provide culturally-sensitive, holistic, compassionate, trauma-informed care aimed at improving both mental and physical health.

The Helen S. Breidegam School of Nursing prepares nurses and nurse leaders to meet the evolving needs of today’s healthcare system. With a strong focus on advancing health equity, improving outcomes, and delivering compassionate, evidence-based care across the lifespan, the School offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate pathways. Undergraduate students may choose from a traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), an accelerated post-baccalaureate BSN, or an RN to BSN program for registered nurses seeking to further their education. At the graduate level, students can pursue advanced practice and leadership degrees in nursing education, nursing administration, adult-gerontology acute care, primary care, and family nurse practitioner. For those aspiring to the highest level of clinical and leadership preparation, the School also offers a post-master’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Together, these programs prepare graduates to lead, innovate, and make a meaningful difference in the health of individuals and communities.

The School of Rehabilitation Sciences offers undergraduate, pre–professional, programs in Public Health and Health Sciences aimed at preparing students for graduate study in a variety of health related settings. The unit also offers professional graduate programs in Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology. Additionally, post-professional education programs housed in the School include Doctor of Athletic Training, Post Professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate, and Speech Language Pathology doctorate programs, with a Doctorate of Science in Health Science in development.

The diversity of the ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« College of Health is among its greatest strengths. Here, faculty from across the health professions come together to embrace interprofessional education modeled after best-practices in the clinical setting. The College uses a social justice lens to prepare graduates to be reflective practitioners and leaders in delivering culturally responsive health care, public health, and mental health services. This approach to student-centered learning allows graduates to excel in the workplace upon graduation.

We hope you will consider joining the ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« College of Health to discover your brilliance!
